On 7th January 2023, the Guest lecture committee of SCIT conducted an online guest lecture on Sentiment analysis using NLP by Mr. Mohit Tripathi. Mr. Tripathi is a Data Science Manager at Conde Nast Chennai. He has 12+ years of experience in developing and delivering data science solutions. He is fluent in all data science solution development cycle steps, from ideation and development to delivery and maintenance. He has worked at companies like LatentView and Tata Consultancy Services. He is also a professional YouTuber who teaches data science topics.

The speaker started by introducing various tools necessary in data science. He stressed the importance of big data, statistics and languages like SQL and PySpark. He also suggested courses with certifications for data scientists and data engineers like A2-900, DP-100, DP-203, and PL-3001.

He further elaborated on the uses of analytics along with cloud computing. He then showed the students a working Sentiment Analysis using NLP on Jupyter. Sentiment analysis (also known as opinion mining or emotion Al) uses natural language processing, text analysis and computational linguistics to systematically identify, extract, quantify, and study subjective information. Some topics mentioned were Stemming, tokenization, part-of-speech tagging and parsing. He concluded the session post-Q&A. Overall, it was a great learning experience for students.
