Good leadership requires attitude and behavior, which characterize and relate to humanity. Intellectual capacity is an attribute, but it is not pivotal. Leadership is primarily about behavior, followed by skills.

Also, we learn during one phase of our lives and then we earn. The reality is that we learn constantly. We call it “experience”.

There has been rampant globalization, financial crisis, yet another one looming large, pressures on effective cost management even by large global companies. This requires leaders with right knowledge and skills.

The biggest mistake that some of us make is to send people off to training programs and expect miracles to happen.

Good leadership demands emotional strengths and behavioral characteristics, which can draw deeply on a leader’s mental and spiritual reserves.

Good leaders are followed chiefly because people trust and respect them, rather than the skills they possess. This is a simple way to see how leadership is different from management:

Management is mostly about processes, whereas leadership is mostly about behavior.
