My first day at SCIT
This is the first of my many blogs about my life here in SCIT.To begin with, I arrived at SCIT on June 4th and immediately found the entire hostel to be empty. All the students had already gone to the campus to attend the induction. When I went over to the campus for the induction, the doors had already been shut. The first thing that popped into my mind: late on the first day itself. One thing I found out (the hard way) after joining SCIT was that all the faculty here are very particular about punctuality. As I walked into the auditorium, a very interesting sight greeted me. All the students were dressed in formal attire. Mark of a professional institute indeed. This is exactly what I expected out of SCIT. Not to forget, Dr. Raman’s speech was an inspiration to all of us. He is what the Raymond guys would refer to as “a complete man”.
I have been away from home for quite a long time now. So, adapting to this new environment came very naturally to me. Also, the crowd here is very friendly; therefore, the transition was made easy for all of us. The most amazing thing about SCIT, as mentioned in every other blog post, is the diversity out here. There are students from almost all the corners of India. People coming together from different cultures and backgrounds. Meeting all these new people was the highlight of my first day at SCIT.
Coming to the most important part: FOOD. I’ve heard nothing but complaints from all my friends living in hostel about the mess food. To be honest, I was a little concerned about the food to be provided. Surprisingly, it wasn’t so bad after all. Even though the food had to be cooked for a huge crowd, it was delicious.
I am very much looking forward to the 2 years ahead. It’s a privilege to be a part of the SCIT family; and I would make use of this opportunity to my utmost advantage.
PS: help me win, and I will make sure all the money from the stipend will go into partying!
