Experience Gujarat: Navratri 2017
On 23rd September, 2017 all the three colleges of Symbiosis Infotech Campus came together to celebrate Navratri on a grand scale. The evening started off with the aarti of goddess Ambe Ma and the entire college was decorated which radiated the start of the 10 day festive celebration. A grand feast was organized by the Gujarati Community on the first day. The platter consisted of all the traditional food items from the Gujarat. The students played the role of perfect hosts by serving food themselves in the mess and made sure that everyone enjoyed the food.
A small stall for lamps and other handicrafts was set up by NGO Savali which works for the mentally challenged and kids with Cerebral Palsy. The association of the NGO and Symbiosis is more than a decade old. All the items put up on the stall were either handmade or hand-painted by the kids from the NGO.
The second day also started with the aarti and the following evening there was Dandiya raas where students from all the three colleges came together and had a great time by dancing to the tunes of traditional dandiya songs. The entire atmosphere of the campus was changed as students flocked to the grounds in their traditional best.
The two day celebration came to an end by enlivening the campus atmosphere, with a burning desire to celebrate and enjoy the Navratri again next year with extra zeal and vigor, and the hope that the lingering memories of this year’s merry moments would keep the flame ablaze the whole year.
