Ganesh Festival @ Symbiosis

Ganesh Festival has been always a special festival and an occasion for vibrant celebration.  It is a celebration for commencing new ventures, enriching knowledge and growing wisdom. Symbiosis Infotech campus at Hinjewadi always celebrates this festival in grand style. Every year, three institutes of SIC- SCIT, SCMHRD and SIIB come together and celebrate this festival with great enthusiasm. This year, the theme of the festival decoration was based on majestic history of Maratha Empire and its forts and decoration was handmade by SCIT students themselves. A Rangoli, made up of flowers was one of the main attraction. SCIT ISR committee organised a workshop to make eco-friendly Ganesh idols. On the auspicious day of Ganesh Chaturthi, students worshiped Lord Ganesh, performed Aarti and offered Prasad. Team Eklavya, the theatre group of SCIT performed an outstanding play touching social issues to raise awareness. After this amazing play, the cultural committee arranged many fun games for students. On the next day, students organised Maha-Aarti. Dr. Amay Yeravdekar was specially invited for this Maha-Aarti.  A special Maharashtrian Lunch was arranged for students as Maha-Prasad. The menu comprised of authentic dishes like Modak, Puranpoli and many more. In the evening, Symbeats-the dance group of SCIT performed a fabulous dance offering prayer to Lord Ganesh in a unique way. Also, the famous Dhol-Tasha performance was arranged depicting Maharashtrian Culture. Students specially wore traditional Maharashtrian outfits for this festival. They were not able to stop themselves from dancing to the wonderful beats of Dhol-Tasha. The Ganesh Visarjan was carried out in an impressive manner. The whole campus was full of voices hailing Lord Ganesh as Ganpati Bappa Moraya! Mangal Murti Moraya! Every year this festival brings a bright smile on face of students and this year too it was a magnificent experience. The main motto of public participation and mass involvement is very much realised in arranging Ganesh festival and it should continue in all years to come.
