Innocence Lost Under the shadow of Drugs
Before writing this blog I was honestly not aware of what the youth of our country is currently exposed to. I am shocked to see the dense cloud of addiction hovering over the innocent children and adolescents-The Cloud of Drugs. The addiction which is spreading like fire, has targeted the future of our country in a big way. In India, an NGO survey revealed that, the incidence of drug abuse among children is higher than the general population. So why is it that people are weakening their own roots. This might be because the youth is the time for experimentation and identity forming.
As per an article in TIMES OF INDIA, dated 26th June,2013, over the last three years, there has been an increase in cases of drug abuse among children in the 10-16 years age group in the city. Substances like Heroin, Opium, Alcohol and Cannabis are supplied into the veins of these kids.
The trend is on the rise, and it might climb up the ladder before our children and eats up their respectable place in the society. So what should be done in order to prevent such brutal act ?
I think, if parents are careful, they can realize that the child is using drugs as many behavioural changes takes place like irritation. Apart from this the proper awareness programmes can be conducted at the schools and colleges, where the ill-effects of the drugs can be discussed.
It is in our hands to make or break the society, and its high time that we must come with certain measures to eradicate drug or substance abuse completely.
