Guest Lecture on Agile and Scrum
On 8th August 2018, a guest lecture was organised by SCIT for the students on Agile and Scrum concepts. The speaker for the session was Mr. Saurabh Vilas Kane, Project Manager at Atos. He addressed the students of 2017-19 batch and spoke at length about what the industry expectations are about Agile professionals. He distinguished between theoretical concepts and their practical approaches. Moving ahead, he threw light on many terminologies pertaining to Agile, DevOps, Scaled Agile and Lean. With that, the speaker had many questions coming his way from the students. The concepts of Scaled Agile and Lean invited more questions, as the session got engaging and informative. Disciplined Agile and LESS were the other important topics covered in the session. Mr. Saurabh also briefed on how Agile teams function in actual work environments, and how micromanagement is quite not necessary in such contexts. His example on Burj Khalifa gave the audience a new perspective about how Agile is not just a software development concept, but goes much beyond into all walks of life. On a concluding note, the speaker talked about the various certifications available in the space of Agile and Lean concepts. The enriching session left the students with new perspectives to ponder upon.
