On the 4th of June 2014, when I stepped into the campus of Symbiosis Centre For Information Technology, my heart skipped a beat (out of excitement). After being employed for more than 3 years, I was ‘back to school‘!

While at work, one of my friends had recommended MBA- ITBM for IT professionals. After contemplating on this with friends and family, I finally put down my papers at work to fulfil my academic ambition. So, on my first day as a student (again!) at SCIT, I just couldn’t cage my excitement.

As I explored the sprawling campus of SCIT, I spotted other ‘bundles of energy’ peppered around. The campus is located in Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park, Pune and is flanked by IT majors such as Infosys, Cognizant and Wipro. While I wandered, I noted that the campus also had a gymnasium and swimming pool to burn the calories that we may gain along with the knowledge bytes :).

I then met some of my classmates, and we exchanged details and got to know each other. I realized that our batch had a good mix of experienced and fresh students from different parts of India. We were then guided to a quite modern auditorium for the induction programme. The programme began with an obeisance to the Hindu goddess of wisdom – Saraswati. This was followed by welcome speeches by Dr. R. Raman (Director), Dr. Rajani Gupte (Vice Chancellor, SIU) and Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar (Principal Director, Symbiosis Society). They shared their aspirations to see us as the future leaders of IT and therefore, their expectations from us. The chief guest of the programme was Mr. Abhilash Verma, Director of Product Management at Citrix Systems, and alumni of SCIT!

Later, I checked in to my hostel room, which is also housed in the campus. I was glad to find out that the room had attached bath with cold and hot water facility. And, to top it up, it also had wi-fi network connectivity!

My final pit stop, before the last lap for the day, was at students’ mess. The menu had variety of vegetarian dishes, including some Maharashtrian dishes :). It was a memorable day and though, I may have stuffed myself, I would like to ‘stay hungry and foolish‘! The next phase in my career path has just begun…
