The day had finally arrived, where the entire college could feel the energy after all the hustle and bustle that was happening before the D-Day. Jan 4th 2020 was the day when TEDxSIUHinjewadi took place. The students were very excited to witness the event. It had begun with the curator and co-curator of TEDxSIUHinjewadi delivering their speech and later the hosts of the event took the charge. 

The first speaker of the day was Mrs. Shweta Chaudhary. She was awarded the coveted title of Mrs. Eco International 2018-19 and Mrs. India Earth 2017-18. She explained that one needs to be strong to overcome the hardships of life. She also shared her experiences and told that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams.

The second speaker of the day was Miss. Ishita Katyal who is an author and motivational speaker. She is a 14-year-old who believes that there is so much in the world for every person to learn. She is the author of “Simran’s Diary” which she wrote at the tender age of 8. Miss. Ishita has made us realize that we need to be a child at heart and do the things you love.

The third speaker of the day was Mr. Pratyush Mallick. He has developed a Forest Fire Detection & Monitoring System. And, was selected by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for boot-camp training. He shared some of his experiences and talked about his love for electronics. He is also a NASA iTech semifinalist.

The fourth speaker of the day was Capt. Yashika Tyagi who is an ex- Indian Army veteran. She was the first lady officer who led the team in the military field. Her speech was very inspiring as it encouraged all the audience to not get disheartened if anything out of the blue happens in life as being extraordinary will bring out the best in you.

The fifth speaker of the day was Ms. Runjhun Sharma who is a television and multimedia journalist working with CNN News18 and manages the Delhi Bureau in CNN News18. She explained the need of more women journalists in the Media- industry which would break the gender based structures that exist.

The sixth speaker of the day was Ms. Sam Madhu who is contemporary digital artist. Her art includes combination of traditional Indian art with sci-fi and modern ideas. She quoted that it is essential to inculcate various aspects in the art forms.

The seventh speaker of the day was Mr. Sumeet Raghavan. A person who needs no introduction. He is well- acclaimed for having played the most remembered character of Sahil in Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai. He has proved his mettle in both Hindi and Marathi industry. He began his talk by stressing about being sensible and sensitive at the same time. He talked about the basic tenets he has imbibed in his life. He talked about the importance of being a good human being and the importance of values and our thoughts. He also mentioned the importance of listening and not simply hearing.  He said that we have to be an asset for our profession. Eventually, he believes that self-improvement is the key to a happy life.

The eight speaker of the day was Mr. Kanishk Gaur. He is one among the few who has received the Chevening fellowship award. This award is aimed at developing global leaders. He began his discussion by telling about the missing link of human and cyber revolution. He explained that it is one of the critical factors to avoid major cyber-issues. He is an alumnus of IIM Lucknow and MDI Gurgaon. He is the Co-founder of India Future Foundation and also an Assistant Director at Deloitte and Manager Advisory Service in EY.

Apart from the above speeches, there were 4 performances that graced the stage. The first being a musical performance by the magical duo, Pranay & Sanket of SCIT. They mesmerized the audience with their melodious music. The second performance left the audience laughing. Akash Gaurav Singh, an amazing comedian entertained the audience with his comedy. The third performance was a dance number by the Wild Beat Crew. They had set the stage on fire with their moves. Last but not the least; there was a performance from Elvis Massey & Band who enthralled the audience with their performance and won their hearts.

And, sums up the 6th edition of TEDx SIU Hinjewadi.  The students thoroughly enjoyed it and are looking forward to the next edition.
