Unleashing Thoughts- 3rd Edition of TEDxSIUHinjewadi
TEDxSIUHinjewadi, one of the biggest events at the Symbiosis Infotech Campus, was organized by SCIT on 7th Jan 2017. TEDxSIU Hinjewadi was all about Unleashing Thougts and each of the speakers of the day kept the audience engaged with their powerful talks in varied fields of interest. In the spirit of “Ideas worth spreading”, this was the 3rd edition of independently organized TEDx event.
The event brought together people from different walks of life to come and share their unique ideas with the world. Even though the attendees for the event were from different backgrounds and age groups, students and working professionals, each of the speakers made sure that there was something inspiring for everyone in each talk.
At the beginning of the event, the Teaser Video and the TEDx Introductory video were showcased. The stage was set for Chippy Kumar & Team who enthralled the audience with their Kathakali Performance. We then began with the first talk of the day, by Maria Goretti who is an Ex- MTV VJ, Host of “The Maria Goretti Corner” on Youtube, Blogger and Writer. She spoke about “Happiness” and implanted a beautiful thought that true happiness is found in the little things around and one must go ahead and do whatever gives them this happiness.
Deepak Karanjikar, an economist, writer, National Spokesperson, former actor, Metamorphsis Consultant and a part of the Arthakranti Team was the next speaker of the day. He spoke on Arthakranti and spoke on the economic conditions of the common man and the taxation system in the country.
“Biggest Ideas don’t just die, they get diluted“. The third talk was by Rajiv Narang, founder of Erehwon and a part of National Planning Commission panel to recommend ‘India’s Innovation Strategy’. He spoke on Orbit Shifting Innovation.
Dr. Sundeep Kochar who is an internationally renowned celebrity Astrologer, Vastu Consultant, Motivational Speaker, Life Coach, Actor, Anchor and Author was the fourth speaker of the day. He spoke on ‘Mind Spa’ and his journey from Cricket to Astrology.
The morning session was indeed very interesting and motivational, to add on to it we had Kunal Newar, a Mentalist and Illusionist who left the audience awestruck by demonstrating some of his tricks and illusions.
The afternoon session started with a talk by Manikandan, a Coimbatore based jute machinery technocrat and has launched the Spero E-Bike, which is India’s first crowd-funded bike. He spoke about e-bikes and how they can help in energy conservation.
The next talk was by Sandeep Sonigra, a leader in creating sustainable Eco-Friendly real estate and co-founder of Orange County Foundation, which is dedicated to research & development of Eco-Friendly construction practices in Urban Areas. He spoke about Eco-Friendly practices in Real Estate and explained why using Lime is better than Cement in construction. With the rate at which construction goes on in big cities like Pune, innovative ideas like this are sure to help in keeping a check on the rising global warming and climate change.
The audience were hooked on to their seats by the Wickedbroz team, who created a special live graffiti art on stage with an amazing Bee Boying performance going on simultaneously.
We then had a powerful talk by Laxmi Narayan Tripathy who is the first Transgender rights activist to represent Asia Pacific in UN 2008. She is the founder of an organization named Astitiva which works to promote the welfare of sexual minorities, their support and development. The crowd was left inspired and motivated with her talk on Changing Gender Dynamics in current Social-Economic Structure of India.
The last talk for the day was by Nidhi Bhandari, a custom made footwear designer and founder of the brand ‘Nidhi Bhandari-Fine Couture Footwear’. Her shoes have been showcased on the Runway for Lakme Fashion Week 2015. She spoke on her journey from being a shoe lover to a shoe couturier.
The day ended on a high note with Mh43India’s rocking band performance which got the crowd dancing and it was a spectacular conclusion for a day full of inspiring ideas and enchanting performances.
The event was definitely a grand success owing to the eminent speakers and enthusiastic audience, and everyone who was a part of it. We hope to have more such events on the campus which are sure to bring so much motivation for every student here.
