A new beginning – My First Day at SCIT

scit1“We came expecting, left remembering” could perhaps be the best way to describe my first day at SCIT.

The long anxious wait for my first day at SCIT was finally over. For this day, I had mentally planned myself for over several weeks trying to set the right first impression in the minds of many. Little did I realize how God had other things in store for me and make it one of the most memorable days of my life.

When I first entered the campus, I could see a sea of people already present, eager (just like me) for the session to start. Even though all of them were strangers to me, it was just the sheer enthusiasm that made us want to know about each other. Perhaps it is true when one says “Strangers are just friends that are waiting to happen”.

We assembled in the auditorium. And then the moment which I was waiting for months finally arrived. We were introduced to our Director: Dr. Raman, vice chancellor: Dr. Rajani Gupte, also our principle director of SIU: Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar and the chief guest for the day: Mr. Abhilash Verma, director of Citrix.

After lighting the holy lamp, our director was the first person to address all of us in what would undoubtedly be one of the best speeches I have ever heard in my entire life and truly left me spellbound. Each and every example he shared with us helped me to understand the journey I will need to take for the next two years and that gave me more assurance that I have come to the right institute with such an able leader. The session continued with more inputs from Rajani Ma’m and Vidya Ma’am. But the icing on the cake was provided by Mr. Abhilash, a former SCITian. He made us realize the value of integrity at SCIT and how much SCIT would help us and mean to us in the next 2 years. It was truly a very inspirational speech and one I will certainly be using as a foundation for a good future.

Lastly, the session concluded with a vote of thanks and followed by our national anthem.

All in all, this day was not just a day. It’s a new opportunity, another chance, a new beginning. Now, it’s upon us to embrace it!!!
