Female Foeticide – How to stop it?

By Administrator 123erty

According to the decennial Indian census, the sex ratio in the 0-6 age group in India went from 104.0 males per 100 females in 1981, to 105.8 in 1991, to 107.8 in 2001, to 109.4 in 2011.It is estimated that more than 10 million female fetuses have been illegally aborted in India. Researchers for the Lancet journal based in Canada and India stated that 500,000 girls were being lost annually through sex-selective abortions.

In Hippocratic societies of india all these things are common and abortion is just a minor surgery. Many families put pressure on women to give birth to boy so that he can take family’s name forward, light the funeral pyre and be the bread earner of the family. But these days, are girls less competent than boys? Just look at the folks at our collage from suryashibir to independence cup each and every event we found a tough competition from our female batchmates. Or take any results of board exams or any competitive exams you will find that girls are always ahead of guys. So my point is why we are living with society of this girl-boy inequality we should realize something at this point and respect them.

So in our alpha male dominated society I don’t want too much jibber jabber about what is happening but coming direct to the solutions. First of all please please please change your mentality or change your perspective of thinking about family, think bit logical it’s not necessary that only boy can take forward your breed. Will you feel proud if your daughter will became doctor or engineer?? Surely you will than why there is demand for only son. At least think about you existence of reading this you also required a woman womb to be born still you are crying against girl child.

Secondly In india we have large population and there are lots of orphan children who are waiting for adoption you can adopt a baby boy from any orphan age. But still we will raise a issue of blood relation and start argument about it. Can’t we compromise in it? Yes we can if we can understand moral responsibility towards future of our society. Please think of a society having a very large gender difference we are not able to handle that situation in future. So let’s start from today and be responsible.

We have one more option which I was not favoring but still if you go at least for it we can agree upon a unborn child’s right to live. Parents can give up their child for adoption it’s also not acceptable according to me but some research says that it is an option also. Because we have to consider the health concerns of mother of that baby too. In many case abortion of child gets some serious trouble to the mother and they might not able to get pregnant next time or having very critical situation while delivery. So rather than aborting the child you can give up her for the adoption.

Definitely there is a way to help those children from being killed before they begin their journey of life. And that begins with each one of us. By making a decision that you will never do this yourself you would be making a contribution in saving lives. Additionally, each one of us can contribute in preventing this killing by communicating this concern to others: to our friends, relatives, colleagues in work places, and community members. One of the key issues is to change the thinking of people on how they view women. By giving equal value, respect and opportunity to girls and women we can model and influence change.
