We all understand the importance of saving our planet by conserving all the natural resources. The Go Green concept aims at every individual to contribute something towards the environment. It doesn’t require a lot of money. Neither does it require huge investment in resources that are used. Going green means that you are taking simple steps to reduce, reuse, and recycle the goods and services that you use, and the best part is that you’re saving money in the process.
1. Save energy to save money.
• You don’t need to freeze your room at zero degree during summers. Keep the doors and windows closed so that the AC cooling stays for longer duration.
• Install compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) when your older incandescent bulbs burn out.
• Unplug appliances when you’re not using them.

2. Save water to save money
• Don’t leave the tap open unattended. Value each drop of water.
• You can even install a low-flow shower hear, that doesn’t cost much. Water and energy saved through it is a return on investment.

3. Less fuel = more money (and better health!).
• Do car pooling or Use public transport

4. Eat smart.
• If you eat meat, add one meatless meal a week. Meat costs a lot at the store-and it’s even more expensive when you consider the related environmental and health costs.

5. Borrow instead of buying.
• Of course this saves money, not to mention the ink and paper that goes into printing new books

6. Eliminate “phantom loads” in your house.
• When huge appliances like T.V or computer goes into standby mode, it still consumes power.
• Standby power can account for 10% of your electricity bill.

7. Shut off lights when not in use.
• This one is easy in theory, but sometimes it’s hard to think about each time.

8. Clean refrigerator coils frequently
• Cleaning the coils at frequent intervals will allow heat to dissipate properly.

9. Use black colour themes/wallpapers on cell phones/desktops.
• A full brightness white pixel uses 5.8 times more battery than a black pixel. Try use black colour more than white to save energy.
• Keep phones on power save mode to minimize battery consumption.
