How many of us spend time from our busy lives to sit down and wonder how blessed we are to be human.

Seriously, if we think about it we are the dominant species on this planet .We have grown over time and established ourselves as the smartest of the creatures here .We proudly call ourselves “intelligent life forms”.

If we ignore the human brain’s capacity to process and solve complex mathematical equations for some time and just look at our behaviour it’s not that hard to observe that we are overall a self-destructive species.

Just look at what we are doing to the world we live in, our home. We are chopping down trees, polluting our water resources and the air that we breathe. But we didn’t stop at that. How can we? We are so ambitious that we took destruction to a new height. We intoxicated our own food chain with dangerously toxic elements. Our innovative minds are so hard at work that we are never satisfied with what we have. We have resources but our greed makes us want more and deplete the ones we already have.

Even if we look at ourselves as individuals, most of us are so preoccupied with our own tasks and goals that we end up ignoring the bigger picture.

How many times have you seen an educated cultured person throw a piece of trash on the road when the dustbin was right there? Or someone in such a rush that they leave the lights on in the room when they walk out without bothering to flip the switch? The examples are endless and So is the concern they raise.

We think,” how does it matter, everyone else does the same thing. Why should I be the one to bother? ” But the fact is we should be bothered. Every little action good or bad adds up and multiplies. We, being the most intelligent creatures on the planet, should know that if we ruin the home we live in we will be left with no place to rest. This planet is our home.

We might be smart but we are not smart enough to reverse the damage that might be done if we don’t change our ways in time. Let’s do justice to our forefathers’ efforts who spent thousands of years undergoing the biological evolution that led to our intelligence .Let’s use our minds and our blessings to save our home and ourselves before it’s too late.
